Open When Letters

Five sealed letters, one for every mood — the viral "open when" tradition turned into an animated card the recipient comes back to again and again. It opens on a desk at night: ink lines write themselves, the page folds shut, hot wax drips and is stamped, and five sealed envelopes are tucked into a wooden box marked 'do not open all at once'. Then the box is theirs. They pick the letter that matches today — miss me, sad, can't sleep, angry at me, need a smile — and each one opens into its own little world: rain that stops when the letter unfolds, a constellation that draws itself, a tiny white flag of surrender, a polaroid that drops out, confetti that means it. Unopened letters stay sealed for another day, so one card gets opened five times. When the last seal breaks, a final letter appears that was never on the list.
