Naming Ceremony Invitation — Naamkaran, Christening and Aqiqah
Every tradition has a day when a newborn is formally given their name: the Naamkaran sanskar, the christening or baptism, the aqiqah, the cradle ceremony. The invitation is the same job in each — tell family and friends when and where, and keep the name itself for the moment it is announced. Here is what to write, when to send it, and how to make the card online.
The short answer
To make a naming ceremony invitation online, open MomentoCard's Name Reveal Cradle card (momentocard.app/templates/name-reveal-cradle), choose the ceremony — Naamkaran, Christening, Baptism, Aqiqah, Cradle Ceremony or Baby Naming Celebration — add the parents' names, the date, time and venue, a Google Maps link and your WhatsApp number for RSVPs, and optionally the baby's name and a photo. The card plays as a short story that ends by revealing the name. Share the link on WhatsApp; it is free and needs no sign-up. Send it one to two weeks ahead — a Naamkaran is often held on the 11th or 12th day after birth, so the invitation goes out soon after the birth.
One card, every tradition
Pick the ceremony name from the list and the wording follows: Naamkaran for the Hindu sanskar, Christening or Baptism for the church, Aqiqah for the Muslim naming, Cradle Ceremony for the South Indian tradition, or a plain Baby Naming Celebration.
The name, revealed at the end
The card tells a short story before the baby's name appears, so the reveal happens inside the invitation — or leave the name blank and keep it for the day itself.
Hindi, English, any script
Write 'Hamare ghar aayi nanhi pari ke Naamkaran sanskar par aap sadar aamantrit hain' or 'Please join us as we bless and name our daughter' — every field takes Hindi, English or both.
Map and RSVP built in
A Google Maps link becomes a directions button and your WhatsApp number becomes a one-tap RSVP. Both are optional and hidden when left blank.

Frequently asked questions
What should a naming ceremony invitation say? Sample wording
Naamkaran (English): 'With the blessings of our elders, Priya and Rohan Sharma invite you to the Naamkaran sanskar of their son on Sunday, 12 April 2026 at 11 am, at 14 Lake View, Pune. Lunch follows.' Naamkaran (Hindi): 'Ishwar ki kripa se hamare ghar aaye nanhe mehmaan ke Naamkaran sanskar par aap sapariwar sadar aamantrit hain.' Christening: 'Please join us for the christening of our daughter at St. Mary's Church on Saturday, 18 April at 10 am, followed by lunch at our home.' Aqiqah: 'With gratitude to Allah, we invite you to the aqiqah of our son on Friday, 24 April after Jumu'ah prayers, at our residence.' Name the hosts, the ceremony, the date and time, the venue and an RSVP line.
When should the invitation be sent?
As soon as the date is fixed — ideally one to two weeks before. A Naamkaran is traditionally on the 11th or 12th day after birth, so many families send a message within days of the birth and the card a few days later. A christening or aqiqah held a few weeks or months later can be sent two to three weeks ahead.
Should the baby's name be on the invitation?
Either way is correct. In many Hindu families the name is announced at the ceremony, so the invitation says 'our son' or 'our little one'. If the name is already chosen and shared, put it on the card — the Name Reveal Cradle shows it at the end of the story. Leave the name field blank to keep the surprise.
How do I add the venue map and collect RSVPs?
Paste the Google Maps link of the venue into the map field; the card shows a directions button. Add your WhatsApp number and a prefilled reply ('Hum zaroor aayenge!') in the RSVP fields; guests confirm with one tap and the reply lands in your chat.
