At a glance

A Christmas party invitation that plays like a trailer

Christmas Express is an animated Christmas party invitation on MomentoCard, about 49 seconds long and cut to a jingle-bells track. It opens on a teaser, one bold word a beat: ARE YOU READY? SOMETHING MERRY IS COMING TO TOWN. YOU'RE INVITED. Then a hand-painted watercolour story carries your details: the title over a steam engine and a snowman, your names over the Christmas Express in a burst of confetti, the date on a signboard beside a penguin, the address over a red cabin, and the dress code and RSVP after a snowball hits the lens. It ends on Merry Christmas written by hand on red glitter. Every line is editable, it plays by itself once opened (one tap turns the sound on), and it is sent as one link that opens in any phone browser, or exported as a 9:16 or 16:9 video. Free to build and preview. Sharing the link and downloading the video need a one-time unlock ($2.99, or ₹59 in India) or a plan.

Try it with your party

Put your names on the train

Type who is hosting and pick the date. The real card plays in the phone with the music: the teaser, your names popping out over the train, your date on the signboard and your RSVP at the end.

  • Sound on: every word and pop lands on the beat.
  • The date goes on the signboard as words: Saturday 19th December 2026.
  • In the editor, change all 22 lines, then send one link.

How it plays

A teaser, a train, a Merry Christmas

Three acts in one link. One tap turns the sound on, then it plays by itself from the first word to the last snowflake, and every cut, pop and confetti burst lands on a beat of the music.

The word READY with a question mark in tall white condensed capitals on a deep maroon screen

Act 1

The teaser, cut to the beat

One bold word every two beats on maroon, white and mint screens: ARE, YOU, READY ? flashing five times, SOMETHING, MERRY, IS, COMING TO TOWN in brushed silver, and YOU'RE INVITED letter by letter before it punches out towards the lens.

Your words here

Nothing to fill in. The teaser is the same for everyone; it is what makes them keep watching.

A watercolour red steam engine coming out of a snowy stone arch beside a snowman in a knitted beanie, under the title Join Us For a Merry Celebration

Act 2, the station

Join us for a merry celebration

A watercolour station pops in: a red steam engine chugging out of a snowy stone arch, a snowman in a knitted beanie springing up out of the snow, and the title bouncing in word by word with a twinkle of sparkles.

Your words here

Three title lines (Join Us / For a Merry / Celebration, or your own).

A red watercolour steam train with a crate wagon crossing a mountain valley under the words All Aboard the Christmas Express, The Millers, invite you to a party

Act 2, the train

The Christmas Express rolls in

The engine's steam swells into a bank of cloud that fills the screen and lifts away off a mountain valley. The Christmas Express rolls by with a crate wagon, a tanker and a flatcar of presents while your names pop out letter by letter in a burst of confetti and throb with the music.

Your words here

Two lines above the name (All Aboard the / Christmas Express), the host's name, and the line under it (Invite you to a PARTY).

A painted wooden signboard reading Thursday 24th December 2026, 7:00 to 11:00 pm, with a penguin in a red scarf and mittens standing beside it

Act 2, the date

A signboard springs out of the ground

A whip pan with speed lines lands on a wooden signboard that springs up out of the snow. A penguin in a red scarf hops in beside it, the camera pushes in, and the date and time pop onto the board one line at a time.

Your words here

Day, date, month, year and time (Thursday 24th December 2026, 7:00 to 11:00 pm).

A red A-frame cabin with snow on the roof and warm yellow windows beside a snowman, under the address 25 Mistletoe Lane, Pine Valley

Act 2, the address

The cabin lands

The camera pans past the level crossing and a snowy pine to a red A-frame cabin that swings in and lands with a bounce and a puff of snow. The address pops in word by word while a little train puffs by behind the cabin.

Your words here

Two address lines (25 Mistletoe Lane / Pine Valley, CA 12345).

The watercolour station again with the steam engine and the snowman, under the lines Dress in your ugliest Christmas sweater, RSVP to Emma and a phone number

Act 2, the RSVP

A snowball, then the dress code

A snowball flies at the camera and splats across the lens. The station soaks back in and the dress code, a dotted line, the RSVP and the phone number pop in one line at a time.

Your words here

Two dress code lines (Dress in your / ugliest Christmas sweater), the RSVP line and a phone number.

Merry Christmas in a flowing white script with two small line-drawn pine trees, on a red background full of falling glitter snow

Act 3

Merry Christmas, written by hand

Red bursts open from the middle with a blast of gold confetti. Merry Christmas is written on letter by letter in a white script over falling glitter snow, a swash draws in under it, two little line-drawn pines grow beside it, and snowflakes drift in from the edge.

Your words here

The two greeting words, and an optional sign-off line under them (See you there! The Millers).

Guests reply in the chat; the RSVP line on the card says to whom.

Also widescreen

Recomposed for 16:9

The same invitation, laid out again for a laptop, the office TV or a YouTube upload: the valley runs wider and the train has room to roll.

Making it

Six tips for a clearer invitation

  1. 1

    Keep the teaser

The first nine seconds sell the invite. ARE YOU READY is what stops a thumb in a group chat; the train is what they stay for.

  2. 2

Put the date on the board

The signboard has four lines: day, date, month and year, then the time. Write 24th, not 24/12; the board is made for words.

  3. 3

    Two address lines, short

A street on the first line, the town on the second. Add a landmark in the dress code if the house is hard to find.

  4. 4

Make the dress code a game

Ugliest sweater, Christmas pyjamas, something red. A dress code people can win is a reason to come.

  5. 5

    One RSVP line, one number

RSVP to a name, then a number or a date. The card ends there, so it is the last thing they read.

  6. 6

Send it when they can listen

The track is part of it: every word cuts on the beat. Pick a time guests can turn the sound on, and allow for the time zone of anyone abroad.

When to send it

Christmas 2026 party dates

Office party season. Two suggested Fridays for a team party. Give three to four weeks' notice: 13 to 20 November for the 11th, 20 to 27 November for the 18th.
The weekend before. The last Saturday before Christmas. Give two to three weeks' notice: 28 November to 5 December.
Christmas Eve. Family dinners and Midnight Mass gatherings. Invite the family by early December.
Christmas Day. Lunch or dinner at home. A week or two is enough for family, longer if anyone is travelling.
Between the holidays. Friendsmas and leftovers parties. One to two weeks' notice works; send it right after the 25th if it is a casual one.

These are planning suggestions, not rules. Give anyone who has to travel more notice.

  3. 3

Write the dress code and RSVP

Add the dress code (an ugly sweater, Christmas pyjamas), the RSVP name and a phone number. Change the title and the greeting if you like.

  4. 4

    Preview and send the link

Watch it once with the sound on, then share the link in the WhatsApp group or send it to each guest. Export a 9:16 or 16:9 video if you need a file.

It is an animated Christmas party invitation on MomentoCard, about 49 seconds long and cut to a jingle-bells track. It opens on a teaser (ARE YOU READY? SOMETHING MERRY IS COMING TO TOWN. YOU'RE INVITED.), then a watercolour story shows your title over a steam engine and a snowman, your names over the Christmas Express, the date on a signboard beside a penguin, the address at a snowy cabin, and the dress code and RSVP. It ends on Merry Christmas written by hand on red glitter. It is sent as one link.

Who is hosting, what kind of party it is, the day, date and time, the address, the dress code, and who to RSVP to by when. Put the date in words (Saturday 19th December) and keep the RSVP to one name and one number or deadline. Christmas Express has a line for each of these, in that order.

Christmas 2026 is on Friday, 25 December. Send office party invitations three to four weeks ahead (13 to 20 November for a party on 11 December, 20 to 27 November for one on 18 December), invitations for a party on Saturday 19 December two to three weeks ahead (28 November to 5 December), and family Christmas Eve or Christmas Day invitations by early December. Casual between-the-holidays parties need one to two weeks.

Yes. The day, date, month, year and time go on the signboard, the address goes over the cabin in two lines, and the dress code, RSVP name and phone number come last, back at the station. Each is its own editable line.

Yes. It plays to Jingle Bell Jukebox, and every cut of the teaser and every pop, bounce and confetti burst lands on its beat. You can pick another track from the music library in the editor, though the cuts are timed to the default, or turn the volume down.

No. The invitation is a link that opens in any phone or computer browser, anywhere in the world. Guests tap it and it plays; there is nothing to install and no sign-up.

Yes. The card names the hosts, not the guest, so one link works for everyone: paste it into the group with one line (Sound on. Something merry is coming to town.) and guests reply in the chat.

Yes. Every line is editable, so the same card works for an office holiday party, a Christmas Eve family dinner, a Friendsmas, a kids' party, an ugly sweater party, a cookie exchange or a Secret Santa night. Ready-made wording for each is on the page and in the wording guide.

Yes, with the unlock or a plan. Export it as a 9:16 video for WhatsApp Status, Instagram Stories or Reels, or as 16:9 for a screen at the office or a YouTube upload. The music is included in the export.

You can build the whole invitation, fill in every detail and preview it for free without signing up. Sharing the finished link and downloading the video need a one-time unlock ($2.99, or ₹59 in India) or a plan. Yes. Edit the card and the same link updates for everyone who opens it afterwards, so a changed time or venue never needs a correction message.
