Short answer: the best travel caption is about one specific moment, not the trip in general. Copy a line from the lists below — they are grouped by the part of the trip they belong to: the journey, the first look, the food, the photos, the stay, the adventure, golden hour and the little things. Then, instead of leaving them under eight separate posts, put them in the Window Seat travel card: an aeroplane window opens on a take-off, you land on the place you went, and each memory arrives as its own keepsake with your photo and your line, while the flight map flies from home to the destination.
Why one line beats a whole paragraph
Nobody remembers a trip as a whole. They remember the prawn curry, the wrong turn, the sunset you nearly missed, the room with the broken fan. A caption that says "best trip ever" could be under anyone's photo. A caption that says "maggi at 3000 metres, every single day" could only be under yours.
So the rule for every line below is the same: one moment, one detail, one line. Swap in your own place, your own food, your own disaster.
The card: a whole trip from the window seat
The Window Seat card turns those lines into a story. It plays around one aeroplane window:
- Shade down. A tap slides it up on a night take-off, the city's lights tilting away.
- Above the clouds. A pink sunrise over a sea of clouds, the wing glinting, and your title.
- Landing. "Home → Goa." The view below is picked from the place you type: a coastline, snow peaks, dunes, a city at dusk or green hills.
- Eight memories. The window slides aside and each memory arrives as its own keepsake — the journey as a boarding pass, the first look as a polaroid, the food as a restaurant bill, your favourite click as a stack of photos, the stay as a hotel key card, the adventure as a ticket, golden hour as a sunset polaroid, the little things as a scrapbook square. The light outside moves from dawn to dusk, and the flight map picks up an icon for each one.
- The next stop. The window fogs over and a finger writes the next destination in the mist.

Every line in the lists below fits one of the card's eight memory slots. Each slot takes a heading of up to 28 characters and a line of up to 80.
The journey
Window seat fights and airport coffee at 5 am.
The trip started the moment you fell asleep on my shoulder at the gate.
Delayed flight, best conversation we've had all year.
Twelve hours on a train and I'd do every one of them again.
You packed snacks for a war. We finished them before take-off.
Road trip rules: you drive, I choose the songs, nobody wins.
The best part of the journey was who was in the next seat.
Somewhere over the clouds, I stopped thinking about work.
First look
The sea came into view and we both went quiet.
First sight of the mountains, and suddenly the cold didn't matter.
We stepped out of the airport and the air smelled like holidays.
It looked exactly like the photos. Then it looked better.
Ten minutes in and we'd already decided to come back.
That first view from the balcony: worth every hour it took to get here.
The food
Fish thali, prawn curry and way too much bebinca.
Maggi at 3000 metres, every single day.
We came for the views. We stayed for the street food.
Dal baati at a dhaba with no name and the best food of the trip.
Our entire budget went on desserts and we regret nothing.
You ordered for both of us in a language neither of us speaks. It worked.
Chai in the rain, tea gardens all around. Peak life.
Breakfast was included. Lunch was a lie. Dinner was perfect.
Before you send
On the Window Seat card, the food memory is drawn as a restaurant bill: "Table for Two", your city, your heading on the first line, and "TOTAL: PRICELESS" at the bottom. A photo of the actual plate goes into the middle of the bill. If you don't have one, it shows a little thali instead.
The photos
This one. It took forty tries.
Not a single photo where we're both looking at the camera. Perfect.
Proof that we were there, and that we were happy.
You took 300 photos of the view and one of me. This is the one.
The photo we'll be framing.
Candid, accidental, best picture of the whole trip.
Where you stayed
A tiny room with the biggest balcony.
The fan didn't work, the view did.
Homestay, home-cooked food, home for a week.
We spent more time on the balcony than in the room.
Woke up to mountains every morning and never got used to it.
Room 214 knows all our secrets.
The adventure
Parasailing: you screamed, I pretended not to.
The trek was "easy" according to the guide. The guide lied.
Scuba diving for the first time and coming up grinning.
Lost the trail, found a waterfall.
A camel ride at sunset that neither of us was ready for.
The bad idea that turned into the best story of the trip.
Golden hour
Same beach every evening, never the same sunset.
We stopped talking when the sky turned orange.
Golden hour, golden company.
Chasing the sunset and, for once, catching it.
The sky put on a show and we had front-row seats.
Every evening ended the same way: you, me and the sun going down.
The little things
Shell bracelets, sunburn and inside jokes.
The souvenir I'll keep is the one I didn't buy: that afternoon.
A fridge magnet, a lost earring and a hundred stories.
The auto driver who sang the whole way. We still quote him.
Sand in everything we own. Worth it.
The little things we'll forget the name of but never the feeling.
Good to know
On the card, each memory has a heading as well as a line. The defaults are "The Journey", "First Look", "The Food", "Our Favourite Click", "Where We Stayed", "The Adventure", "Golden Hour" and "Little Things", but you can rename any of them — "Maggi Point", "Room 214", "The Wrong Turn" — and the flight map keeps its icon.
For couples, friends and family
For a partner
Every view looked better because you were next to me.
Of all the places we went, my favourite was the seat next to you.
Honeymoon over. Let's never stop travelling like this.
You're the best travel plan I ever made.
New city, same you, still my favourite.
For friends
Group chat to group trip. We actually did it.
Five people, one car, zero plan, perfect trip.
The trip that will be "remember when…" for the next ten years.
Bad decisions, great company, no regrets.
For family
The first trip where Papa didn't check the time once.
Mummy packed for twelve. We were four. She was right.
Three generations, one tiny car, one very long playlist.
Thank you for every trip you took us on when we were small. This one was for you.
Hinglish travel captions
Pahado mein chai, aur tum. Bas itna hi chahiye tha.
Goa gaye the relax karne, wapas aaye sunburn leke.
Window seat meri thi, view hum dono ka.
Plan kuch nahi tha, yaadein bahut saari.
Maggi, Manali aur tum — perfect trio.
Agli trip kab? Abhi se packing shuru.
Make the card
- Open the Window Seat card and type where you flew from, the destination and when.
- Fill in the memories you have — a line for each, a photo for any. Leave a memory empty and it is skipped.
- Type the next destination (it is written in the fog on the window at the end), a closing line and a message.
- Share the link on WhatsApp, Instagram or SMS. It opens on any phone; no app, no sign-up.
